Fifth Avenue Meets Nob Hill

So, a little over a year ago I was getting ready to do my senior photo shoot. And while some of my friends' normal shoots did turn out great, the run of the mill stock shots were not for me. I went in a whole new direction: re-shoots of famous Audrey Hepburn pictures. Here are some of the shots:

















It was actually really easy to put together. I went to Dillards for the hat and bought a bunch of pearl strands (though I found out today that JC Penny's of all places has the best price on pretty high quality glass pearls, bought some really cute pieces), put an old brooch I had on it to make her famous necklace. Alxardnax helped me with makeup tips, and I put my hair up in a "sock" bun, and then made my own bangs by looping the first centimeter of my hair. I got the shirt I was wearing at Target (every now and then you can find some cute things), and the gloves from a costume ship for like five bucks. Cigarette holder was a few bucks from a cigar store.
All the shots are at places around Nob Hill in Albuquerque. Objects of Desire let me use their storefront, and Yanni's let me use their cafe and alley.
The guys in the one shot were total strangers that ran up in the middle of the shoot so I went with it.
Then I had a "Breakfast at Tiffany's" Party made into "Dinner at Libby's"

Both on Tiffany's Trademark colored paper of course. My cake was a T&Co Box, with the Blue fondant and white ribbon, and surrounded by cupcakes with the same color icing. It was fabulous.

Step One: Hair

So I usually keep my hair longish (mid-shoulder blades), but I have thick hair so it is a pain to keep up with it. I usually end up just pulling it up in a clip to avoid a cliched ponytail. Then, I was watching Coco Before Chanel with Mommie Dearest when I got back and fell in love with her hair. So cute, right? Alxardnax was worried it might be too old for me, so I threw ideas back and forth with her till we got Charlize Theron's long kinda-bob.

AND new hair!!!Yay!!! So pretty. And I get to curl it everyday! Fun times.

Summer Starts

I came back from college for the summer with four suitcases shoved full of clothes, a backpack filled with purses, and a carry-on brimming with shoes. As I rolled my baggage into my house, Mommie Dearest told me to put the suitcases in the living room before I unpacked as we were going to "review my clothes first." M.D. has been reading this book What to Wear for the Rest of Your Life, by Kim Johnson Gross (totally recommend reading it, love it!), and now is all about "Forever Clothes." So, out of six bags, the clothes that ended up in my closest would only fill three. On top of that, we also removed two black trashbags of shoes and other clothes I had left here when I moved. I own a lot of clothes apparently...
The removal of clothes wasn't easy, and I fought M.D. all along the way, and bargained my way into a few new dresses from her (stay tuned for those!!! going to be super cute!). I've picked my Fashion Idols (Chanel, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, and Ingrid Bergman, I'm all about classic films...), and am now beginning my journey to Classic Chic.
So here I am, blogging about my closet as it gets refilled with clothes reminiscent of Golden Holywood with a modern twist. My Mental Twin, AlxArdnax (see her blog here: http://lagarconneme.blogspot.com) gets updates every time I shop, so I am sure I'll be writing about her input too.
